HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
I wanted to make this day a little more special for all my readers and fans, so I’ve decided to hold giveaways throughout the day! Come by, comment on one or more posts, and you are entered to win that giveaway’s prize. Winners will be announced on the blog tomorrow. There will be three posts today, so three giveaways, each with different prizes, although some may also have prizes from other giveaways as well (i.e., giveaway #2 could have both its own prize and the prize from giveaway #1 as well).
Needless to say, I’m truly excited to be spending some of my Valentine’s Day with you, my readers and fans!

And how about some romance to round out Valentine’s Day?
Romance is my business, so to speak, and Valentine’s Day is the day for romance.
I would have to say the most romantic thing that my husband has done for me was regarding our honeymoon. We were going to drive to Florida to go scuba diving in West Palm Beach, well over 1,000 miles in an old Chrysler van. A grueling trip, in other words, but necessary so we could take our scuba gear. Well, we spent the night in a swanky hotel, then got up to get on the road. My husband wanted to stop for a soda for the road, so we pulled off the interstate and the
into the Amtrak station. We went in and he was about to get a drink from a vending machine when he pulled out two tickets to Palm Beach and announced we had a bedroom car on the train to our honeymoon destination. I really didn’t believe him at first, but he said, yes, it’s true, we’ve got to get on the train now! We rode to Florida in style. It was a fabulous journey and I do remember it well, 30+ years later.
What’s your most romantic experience, or what is your fantasy romantic experience?

The best romantic trip was going to the Grand Canyon during our honeymoon! The weather was sunny and cold. The views were spectacular, and we found three does lying on the ground by the trail. Talk about a close encounter!

I don’t get to have romantic Valentine getaways. We got married and spent night in motel. I got up in night and hit wall going to bathroom and got a black eye. Next night my husband tripped over his tool box and hit stairs and got a black eye. We’ve had a lot of no gifts on Valentine’s Day because of husband not working.

We bought a converted 1963 Greyhound Bus and drove it to Las Vegas from New England. It was a double-clutched that my husband learned along the way. It was New Year’s Eve in Vegas and we were staying at a campground. We climbed on the bus’ roof, sipped champagne and watched a brilliant fireworks show, feeling like it was just for us.

My fantasy Valentine Getaway- beachy. I love the beach, the salty sea air, the crashing of the waves, the seashells one can find. The beautifulness of the sun as it reflects off the ocean water. The wonders that belong in the underwater world.

Oh, yes. Romance at the beach is fabulous. The beach was one of the first places I went with my then boyfriend/husband-to-be. And we’ve gone at least once, sometimes as many as 5 times in a year because it’s so wonderful.

I absolutely love the beach! Sometimes I think I may have been a mermaid in a past life!

The most romantic thing that I can recall is when my husband who was my boyfriend at the time, we were Harley riding and it started to rain. He pulled over on the side of the highway and we danced on the side of the road to Unchained Melody. Still makes my heart sing.

My fantasy romantic experience would be a weekend getaway to a secluded cabin during winter. Beautiful scenery with a nice indoor crackling fire.

We were married 50 years ago. We were just out of college and dirt poor. We rented a cabin in Cooperstown, NY. We plan ed to go to Hall of Fame, take a dinner train and maybe drive to Niagara Falls. Unfortunately the second night we both became violently I’ll (maybe the cream donuts or the well water). He drove us to the hospital, I was wrapped in a blanket. The word spread and everyone was walking by and pointing at the honeymooners and giggling. My husband says this was romantic because we still loved each other after helping each other during messy sickness. We got over any shyness and embarrassment right away. I guess he is right because I think it made it easier to get through difficult times for 50 years.Sue Waagner

You took “in sickness and in health” to new heights on that honeymoon! But I bet it did create a special bond–if we survived this, we can survive anything. And 50 years later, you have. Congratulations!
