Although I’m probably not Irish at all, I love Ireland and absolutely love St. Patrick’s Day! This year I wanted to post, along with my traditional video of Danny Boy, pictures I recently unearthed of my first trip to Ireland, way back in 1979, of me kissing the Blarney Stone.
It’s really fortunate that I did it then, because with my fear of heights, I’d never be able to do it now! The stone is all the way up at the top of Blarney Castle.
So here’s wishing you a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day along with my favorite Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
The sun shine warm upon your face
The rain fall soft upon your fields
Until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand;
And may you be in Heaven half an hour
before the devil knows you’re dead!
Lovely post, Jenna. My great-grandfather emigrated from Ireland early in the 20th century, and I’ve been fortunate enough to meet my Irish cousins. Needless to say, I love Ireland too, and I kissed the Blarney Stone twice! Hope you’ve had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day. 🙂
