Weekend Writing Warriors ~ 10/22/17 Hearts at All Hallows’ Eve~ Mystery Solved?

I’m sharing from the brand new short story I’ve just released for Halloween called Hearts at All Hallows’ Eve. It’s set in the world of my Handful of Hearts series and it will be FREE to those who sign up for my newsletter in October! Just click here. 🙂

The book released late on Tuesday and I’m so happy to be able to show you the beautiful cover at last, courtesy of the extremely talented Danielle Fine, who does all my Handful of Hearts covers.

Miss Cecilia Powell is attending her first masquerade on All Hallows’ Eve when she sees something just a little strange. A hooded figure in black begins to stalk toward her, a mysterious and handsome stranger in a glittering mask and black domino.

I’m skipping ahead a few pages to where Cecilia and the mysterious stranger are dancing.

Skillfully, he led her around the ballroom floor, and she was so light on her feet she scarcely touched the boards. Only one other man had ever danced so beautifully. He was gone, but could this be his brother, perhaps?

Laughing up into his face as he spun them around, Cecilia bubbled with joy at her discovery. He knew her; now she knew him.

“You dance divinely, sir. So well, in fact, I believe I have determined who you are behind that gleaming mask.” Tilting her chin flirtatiously, she studied his full-lipped mouth through shuttered eyes.

“Do you indeed?” His quick laugh made her heart stop.

BLURB for Hearts at All Hallows’ Eve:

When Miss Cecilia Powell attends her very first masquerade on All Hallows’ Eve, she’s thrilled when a mysterious  reveler pays court to her. As their encounter continues, Cecilia is charmed, then smitten with this masked stranger, even though she senses something odd about him. Is he truly the man of her dreams, or will Cecilia find her dream a true  nightmare?

Hearts at All Hallows’ Eve is available at Amazon, B & N, and Smashwords, as well as other e-tailers.

A light scene with a dark undertone. I imagine she’s wrong in her guess as to who he is. I hope it’s a pleasant surprise.

  2. Very mysterious, a little spooky–nicely seasonal! 🙂 Somehow, I suspect her guess is going to be wrong–or there’s some secret she doesn’t know yet. There’s always something a little ominous about masquerades.
